Luxor in Full

Thursday 4th March 2010:
Woke up for our first full day in Egypt and Luxor. After breakfast we caught the free hotel shuttle bus to the Luxor Temple and had a look around there. We didn't bother to go in for a close up view, but were able to see most of the more interesting sights from the outside.
We then thought about the Mummification Museum but also ruled this out at the cost was more than what we wanted to pay. Instead we headed back to the hotel to sit by the pool. I had a swim and the read for the afternoon.
We then headed back towards the Luxor Temple and caught up with a horse and carriage driver who we had been chatting to before hand and organised a good price with him.
He took us through the old market street (which we would have like to have got out and walked along and possibly shopped at, but he said we shouldn't - never listen to an Egyptian horse and carriage driver)!
He instead took us to a 3 story shopping center where everything was apparently 1/2 price, because they were closing down for 3 weeks for a refit). After that he took us to see the Karnak temple in the dark just saw it from the outside), then on to a perfume factory and sales center. Then on to dinner, where the price ended up being 20% more than what we expected because the prices shown didn't include their 20% taxes and charges - obviously we weren't very happy about this.
Next we headed back to the hotel. Had to run in and get some money to pay him - then his price that he'd said it was going to be increased massively, but I walked away just giving him a bit more than the initial agreed price - and no where near his revised price.

Friday 5th March 2010:
2nd full day in Luxor and because we got up late, we weren't able to make it to the temple to met a cabbie we had met the previous day who had said he'd take us around the West Bank. Instead we were walking along the street and we were called over by a guy we'd met on the Wednesday evening. We sat with him for a while, got some water and then arranged a tour onto the West Bank for the Saturday.
We then headed back to the hotel to again sit by the pool (I had another swim), and read, then had a fairly relaxing rest of the day.

Saturday 6th March 2010:
This morning we headed off to do a private taxi/car tour of the west bank. We called into the Valley of the Kings, Hetchepsut Temple, some other temple and then a quick stop at the Colossi of Memnon as well as seeing the teombs of the nobles in the distance.
We finished about mid-afternoon, then followed that by going into the center of town. We met some fella and started chatting to him, then went off to dinner at a more local cheaper restaurant with some good tasty food.

Sunday 7th March 2010:
I got up in the morning and met Andy (the fella we met the night before). We both headed out for some lunch at one of his cousin's small local & cheap eatery shops), this was then followed by a ride on his motorbike to a local coffee shop.
eventually came back to the hotel and eventually went out to grab some dinner.
